2010 Kwanzaa Celebration


On December 29, 2010 families and friends gathered at the Redford Branch Library to share in celebrating Kwanzaa.  Here is a glimpse into what the day was all about.


Trivia Day
Students can participate in  mock Jeopardy games, trivia about juvenile book characters and plots with prizes and treats.
Tuesday, January 4, 4 - 5:30 pm



Diversity of Snowflakes
Saturday, January 8, 2 - 3 pm
Read the book Snowflake Bentley, and make snowflakes to hang in children's area and take home





Make Your Own Dream Come True
Thursday, January 13, 4 - 5 pm
Participants will declare a goal and research or begin a process which can lead to the goal becoming a reality.  (i.e. take an art class, learn to ride a bike, etc)




National Hat Day
Saturday, January 15, 2 - 3 pm
Participants will wear their favorite hat and write a song or tell a story about their hat.  Light refreshments will be served.






National Popcorn Day!!

Wednesday, January 19, ALL DAY
Popcorn will be served as you check out a book!


Redford Readers Book Club
This month's book is Animal Farm, by George Orwell.  Come join us for a
lively discussion of this great classic on Saturday, January 22, from 11:30 - 1 pm.
Pick up you copy at the circulation desk today.



Computer Classes

All computer classes are held on Saturdays from 11 - 1 pm

January 8 - Introduction to Email
January 22 - Introduction to PowerPoint

Advanced registration is not required, however, space is limited, so come early to insure you will have a seat.


National Puzzle Day
Saturday, January 29 All Day
Various puzzles will be available for patrons to enjoy and solve.

Skiing for Children Ages 5 - 18

On Saturday, January 8, 2011 @ 12:00 noon the Jr Jim Dandy Ski Club will be hosting an informational meeting for parents concerning the 2011 ski season. All parents with children ages 5-18 who wish for their children to participate with the Jr. Jim Dandy Ski Club this season are urged to attend this meeting. We will be discussing all the things parents need to know to get their children ready for a season of fun on the slopes.
