Health Tour in Midtown
Join Soul Delights LLC as they make stops at Midtown's healthy food spots. Tour sites include Avalon, Goodwell's, Drought, and Fresh Corner Café. Tour guide Rhonda J. Smith is a health advocate and educator who aims to connect people with the resources they need in the city to improve their health naturally. The tour will take place Saturday, October 5 from 2 - 6:30PM.

Thirteen Detroit restaurants including Midtown favorites Great Lakes Coffee, Rodin, and Traffic Jam & Snug will participate in this week-long event. From October 10 - 16 participating businesses will be offering $15 specials that include at least one food and one drink item. Reservations are not required and it's a great way to check out a new place, or try something different at one of your favorites.

Dog Days at DIA

  
To celebrate the culmination of the Gracehoper Conservation project and the new lawn installation, the DIA is hosting this Dog Days event which will include a dog walk, poetry reading, lecture, and more. Join the festivities on October 12 at 10 AM.

Third Thursdays at Eastern Market


Detroit Eastern Market is proud to launch Third Thursdays at Eastern Market.
The inaugural event takes place Thursday, September 19, 2013 from 4 - 9 p.m. and coincides with Detroit Design Festival and Eastern Market After Dark activities.
By adding an all-ages evening experience, visitors from the metropolitan Detroit area can experience all that Eastern Market has to offer in a safe, fun, and relaxed environment.
Guests of Third Thursdays at Eastern Market will enjoy a diverse selection of Michigan's finest food trucks with "tastes" from Beignets LLC, Rollin's Stone Fired Pizzas, Shimmy Shack, Green Zebra, Ned's Travel Burger, Treat Dreams, El Guapo and Mac Shack.
Visitors of all ages can also partake in a variety of activities offered by Playworks and shop with many of our favorite Artisan Village vendors. 
Future Third Thursdays will take place on October 17, November 21, and December  19.

Watch Me Move: The Animation Show

Discover animation like never before. Suspend belief and let the magic of animation reveal imaginary worlds and experimental imagery. With Watch Me Move, the Detroit Institute of Arts brings to metro Detroit the most extensive animation show ever mounted, featuring both iconic moments and lesser-known masterpieces from the last 150 years. Visitors will have the rare opportunity to see an incredible array of animation techniques in over 100 animated film segments from across generations and cultures. The exhibition includes animation’s great inventors, innovators, and artists, from Georges Méliès and Chuck Jones to William Kentridge and Tim Burton, as well as animation studios such as Walt Disney, Aardman, Studio Ghibli, and Pixar. This immersive exhibition invites visitors to discover animation—from the familiar to the eccentric—through large-scale projections and intimate viewing spaces. The experience extends into the Detroit Film Theatre which will be showing a selection of feature-length animation, festival compilations and personal appearances by contemporary animators over the course of the exhibition.

Hope's Alabaster Box Performance at the Charles H. Wright Museum in Detroit

The dramatic play “Hope’s Alabaster Box” examines two newlyweds’ struggle to keep hope in their rocky marriage. Performance proceeds benefit the International Justice Mission, dedicated to the prevention of human trafficking and other human rights crimes.
